Columbus Networks Achieves Certification from Metro Ethernet Forum

Compliance ensures successful interoperability and deployment of Ethernet services

Kingston, Jamaica – (Sept. 26, 2011) – Columbus Networks has achieved MEF 9 and MEF 14 Certifications of the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) validating compliance of its Ethernet services to the MEF standards. The company made the announcement at the MEF Carrier Ethernet & Business Service Seminars in Mexico and Guatemala.

Columbus Networks underwent rigorous testing of its portfolio of Ethernet carrier services including Ethernet Private Line (EPL), Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) and Ethernet Local Area Networks (E-LAN).   Testing was conducted by Iometrix, the MEF authorized certification test lab.

“We view MEF certification as a gold standard for validating Columbus Networks’ ability to offer carrier Ethernet services to our customers,” said Paul Scott, president and chief operating officer of Columbus Networks.

“For our customers throughout the Pan Caribbean/Americas region this is yet another level of assurance that they can entrust their critical business communications networks to Columbus Networks,” Scott said.

During its presentation at the MEF Carrier Ethernet & Business Service Seminars Kevin Vachon, the MEF COO said that “Columbus Networks MEF certification introduces globally standardized quality Ethernet services for business and wholesale customers and will contribute to the development of the Carrier Ethernet market in the region.”
